Open Research Questions

Our research throws up many questions that we cannot address immediately. Some of these are listed below. We would be delighted to hear from others who would like to join us in tackling them or already have the answers.

Running EDIM1 experiments on ECDF

The DIR group, together with EPCC has developed and built an experimental machine, called EDIM1, for data intensive application. While the more traditional architecture separate the storage servers from the processing servers, and connect them through network, storage and light-weight processing reside on the same nodes in EDIM1. The goal is to process the data locally as much as possible.
