Running EDIM1 experiments on ECDF

The DIR group, together with EPCC has developed and built an experimental machine, called EDIM1, for data intensive application. While the more traditional architecture separate the storage servers from the processing servers, and connect them through network, storage and light-weight processing reside on the same nodes in EDIM1. The goal is to process the data locally as much as possible.
The Edinburgh Compute and Data Facilities (ECDF) has a cluster built according to the traditional architecture. The cluster is made available for job submission.
In order to evaluate our experimental machine, and identifying the classes of tasks that are best performed on the different architectures, it would be useful to re-run some of the experiments run on EDIM1 on the ECDF cluster, comparing timing and power performance.
