Workflow Roles in Processing Large Undersea Videos in Fish4Knowledge

20th May - Gaya Nadaraja

Fish4Knowledge (F4K) (www.fish4knowledge.org) is an EU project between Edinburgh and several partners that aims at providing i) Automatic storage and extraction of information of observed marine life from database; and ii) Interfaces for non-expert users (marine scientists) to query on. F4K brings together various computational expertise (databases, image processing, ontologies, workflow and high performance computing) in order to achieve its objectives. I then discuss three major directions for workflow research to take with respect to this, with focus on data- and compute-intensive factors. Comments and feedback very welcome.
