The Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) is a leading centre for research and training focussed on drug and vaccine design, discovery, development and use. Bringing together the former departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology & Physiology, Immunology and Bioscience (microbiology and biochemistry), the Institute contributes substantially to the generation of new knowledge and the discovery and development of medicines to improve treatment of major health conditions, including cardiovascular, psychiatric, inflammatory and infectious diseases. Combining fundamental and applied research, the Institute builds on Strathclyde's record of success in drug and vaccine research and in engaging with industry to ensure our excellent fundamental research is translated into products that benefit patients.
