Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences, University of Liverpool

The Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences, together with its next-door neighbour the Proudman Oceanographic Institute, is a UK centre for excellence in the Earth & Ocean Sciences. The department occupies an extensive complex of new and refurbished research and teaching facilities accessed through the original Jane Herdman Laboratories. It is linked to the brand new Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory, a facility of the UK Government’s Natural Environment Research Council.

The department of Earth and Ocean Sciences consistently attracts excellent ratings for both teaching and research. It ranks highly in both the Times’ and Guardian’s university guides, and in government teaching inspections.
