The aim of this project was to produce a system to monitor the environment of an elderly person's home via an arrangement of sensors, and to allow them to automate some household activities such as controlling lighting. This is intended to allow greater independence as carers and family will be able to monitor household activity and hence the welfare of the house's occupant.
Sensors monitor various conditions within the house and actuators can control electronic devices. A web application allows the occupant and their carer to perform actions and read sensor data.
This project was completed by 7 team members for the 2012/2013 System Level Integration Practical at the University of Edinburgh.
