A great chance to meet friends - old ones and new ones - on your first night in Budapest, preceding the Conference. The buffet reception will be held at the Pest Conference Center in the building of the Federation of Technical and Scientific Societies (7th floor), near the Parliament.

Conference Dinner

After a sightseeing tour by boat passing the Chain Bridge, the Castle Hill, and the Building of Parliament, a traditional Hungarian dinner and a special folkloristic programme will take place in the Ladik Csárda Restaurant on the Óbuda Island.
This pleasant evening offers a good opportunity for the participants to relax and just enjoy the show. Pálinka will be served as welcome drink and the best folk ensembles of Hungary will perform Hungarian folk dances.
There will be an embarkation point at Vigadó tér.
Bustransfer to the hotels is provided after the show, departure will be at around 23.00.

Budapest by Night

Light- and Sight-Parade on the Danube. One hour sightseeing boat trip along the banks of the river Danube through the illuminated capital. The sights are explained by a film, so the interior of the buildings and their art relics can be admired, too. During the film kings and emperors, architects and artists speak (on head phones) about the history and legends of the town. Drinks are served twice: welcome champagne, beer, soft drink.

Opera Gala

Opera arias will be performed by world famous Hungarian opera singers. All of them are members of various opera houses both in Hungary abroad will be accompanied by the Danube Symphony Orchestra (55 musicians). The programme consists of the most beautiful arias from such operas as: The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni by Mozart, Carmen by Bizet, Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni, Faust by Gounod, Tosca by Puccini, Tales of Hoffmann by Offenbach, La Traviata by Verdi and Don Pasquale by Donizetti. The gala will be held in the beautiful neobaroque theatre of the BM Duna Palota in which almost all major European composers since the turn of the century 1900 have given performances.
